Accessibility statement for Plan technology for your school
This accessibility statement applies to Plan technology for your school.
This website is run by Department for Education. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
change colours, contrast levels and fonts
zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
navigate most of the service using just a keyboard
navigate most of the service using speech recognition software
listen to most of the service using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We've also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet (opens in new tab) has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
the ‘share or download this recommendation’ feature contains a ‘notes’ section that you are unable to interact with online – assistive technology is currently unable to relay this instruction to the person using it
you cannot navigate from a recommendation action back to the recommendation introduction page
some links lead to external websites and will open in a new tab without warning the person clicking on the link that this will happen
some pages contain hidden labels that should not be there – these are sometimes read out by assistive technology

Technical information about this website's accessibility
The Department for Education is committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) version 2.2 AA standard, due to the following non-compliances.
Non-accessible content
The content is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Some information is not conveyed to those who use assistive technology. This does not meet WCAG version 2.2 A – 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships). We plan to correct this and remove the information that assistive technology is unable to read.
There are some navigational issues when trying to return to the previous page. This does not meet WCAG version 2.2 AA – 3.2.3 (Consistent Navigation). We are working to correct this so that you can navigate to the previous page with ease.
Some external links are missing a warning that details that the link will open in a new tab. This does not meet WCAG version 2.2:
A – 3.2.2 (On Input)
AA – 3.2.4 (Consistent Identification)
We will be including the text ‘opens in new tab’ on any links where this may happen.
Some hidden form labels were found which may cause an error for someone using a screen reader. This does not meet WCAG version 2.2:
A – 1.1.1 (Non-text Content)
A – 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships)
A – 3.3.2 (Labels or Instructions)
AA – 2.4.6 (Headings and Labels)
We will be removing any hidden form labels.
What we're doing to improve accessibility
We are currently working on the accessibility issues that we have identified. We aim to complete this work by 15 November 2024.
We’ll continue to monitor and test this service regularly.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 1 October 2024.
This website was last tested in September 2024 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.
The test was completed by Nexer Digital who carried out inclusive usability sessions to test the:
introductory pages
digital technology registers self-assessment journey
digital technology registers recommendations journey
These tests were carried out with users who had a range of access needs and required adjustments and assistive technologies to use our service.
